Their journey has officially started

We are pleased to announce that the following cadets have officially embarked on their journey to becoming firefighters. Last week, Joseph "Kepa" Lyman, a cadet from Class 006 in Hilo, initiated his firefighting career with the Hawaii County Fire Department. Kianna Ponce, a cadet from Class 011, is currently in her second month of training to become a State ARFF Firefighter and is part of the recruit class in Maui. Upon graduation, Kianna is scheduled to begin her first assignment at Kona International Airport.

Yesterday, seven former Ho'omau cadets and one instructor began the long-anticipated recruit class with the Federal Fire Department. Cadets Braden "Kama" Suzuki-Scott, Julius James "JJ" McGough, Kaiko Valdez, Nainoa Miyajima, Jonathan "Johnny" Philbrick, Dustin Pave, Izayah Salud-Callejo, and Chris Gutierrez reported for class. This month has been remarkable as we celebrate the achievements of these cadets.

Last, but certainly not least, former cadets Ceyber Silva and Jonathan Akaka commenced their training with the Honolulu Fire Department's 119th Recruit Class in mid-July. Both Silva and Akaka are expected to graduate in early 2026. Congratulations to all these cadets and best wishes on their journey!
